Unit Trusts were first designed over 70 years ago specifically to give individual investors a simple and inexpensive method of investing in company shares.

The TUUT Trust has once again put its best foot (paw) forward and sponsored a Dog for the Disabled. Vita, a black German Shepherd-cross-Retriever puppy, is progressing well through her social year with Pearl, a long-term socialiser.
Vita is taken out by Pearl to a range of places where she will eventually accompany her disabled owner. Recent trips have included a bus and train ride which Vita took happily in her stride, settling down on the floor until the journey was over.
As Vita's confidence has grown, she has visited increasingly more busy environments and now regularly frequents the local shopping centre as well as local supermarkets. She always attracts attention from passers-by and, as Pearl says, "she is a pleasure to take out".
Vita also regularly accompanies Pearl and her grandchildren to school: she is a regular in the playground and thoroughly enjoys the company of all the school children. She also attends her own lessons – puppy classes, organised by Puppy Co-ordinator, Claire.
These are a great opportunity for puppies to meet up and get to know other dogs of a similar size and age, whilst also allowing socialisers to have a chat and swap stories and tips. The classes also allow Claire to ensure the puppies work through their obedience commands of 'sit', 'down', 'upsit' and 'stand'. These commands form a basis of training which will allow the disabled handler to control the dog once assigned.
Walking nicely on the lead is also a must as this will be transferred to a scooter or wheelchair in later life and is much easier if the groundwork is already complete. 'Recall' also continues to be an important element of training and the Vita is put through her paces by being asked to return from increasingly challenging distractions.
Her training is done using only rewards based methods, rewarding her with food for doing the right thing. This ensures that she and all the puppies are willing to work and keen to learn. Vita really is a class act.
All work and no play would not be much fun, so Vita also has plenty of "dog-time" too and enjoys playing with Pearl's two cats.
