Unit Trusts were first designed over 70 years ago specifically to give individual investors a simple and inexpensive method of investing in company shares.
We have a range of PDF brochures available to download for further reading.
TU Fund Managers Limited was set up in 1961 to manage a unit trust so that trade unions could invest in those companies in which their members worked.
Since then there have naturally been changes and, although trade unions still account for a substantial portion of our funds, we have for many years been open to other corporate bodies and individuals. As at 1 March 2011, total funds under management exceeded £75 million.
From the outset, we appreciated that it was necessary to combine the interests of the Union movement with the investment expertise and experience available in the City. Therefore, the company is managed by a Board of Directors which brings together harmoniously the skills of both. Day to day investment management is carried out for us by Scottish Widows Investment Partnership (SWIP), part of the Lloyds Banking Group.
